|
Professional
Mohamed Alayyan is the Publisher and Chairman of Al Ghad newspaper; Jordan's most independent Arabic
daily newspaper. Less than three years since it hit the stands in 2004, Al Ghad has asserted itself as
a leading newspaper in Jordan. With its new approach to journalism in a country lacking independent
journalistic tradition, Al Ghad has earned a local and regional reputation for setting new standards of
excellence. Today Al Ghad is the fastest growing newspaper and has the largest base of subscriptions in
the country. Its user-friendly, interactive and up-to-the-minute news website is visited by over one million
unique users a month.
Mr. Alayyan entered the media industry in 1998, when he established Al Waseet weekly classifed newspaper
in Jordan. The publication's weekly circulation exceeds two hundred thousand copies, and a leading reach
of two million readers on a weekly basis. Mr. Alayyan established Al Faridah Specialized Printing, which
publishes Layalina, JO, Ahlan, Viva, U and Venture magazines.
Recently, Mr. Alayyan established the first independent terrestrial and satellite, free to air channel in
Jordan. ATV, scheduled to start airing soon, will be a 24-hour operation targeting audiences in Jordan and
the Arab world. ATV will transmit high quality programming that offers an imaginative mix of current affairs
programs, entertainment, talk/variety shows, movies, and sports.
