Author Mai Yamani on "The Struggle with Modernity in Saudi Arabia" - Worldview

In Chicago for a Harris School sponsored lecture and as part of the Dean's International Council spring meeting, Dr. Mai Yamani discussed democracy, women's rights, and Saudi Arabia with Worldview host Jerome McDonnell.

Yamani is the first woman to lecture at a Saudi university and is the author of several books including Cradle of Islam: The Hijaz and the Quest for an Arabian Identity, Feminism, and Islam and Changed Identities Challenges of the New Generation in Saudi Arabia. She is also a former fellow at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House).
