On April 11th, the Harris School hosted an address by Najib Mikati, former Prime Minister of Lebanon, entitled "Wisdom at ‘Faith’ Value: Tolerance and Integrity in Policy".

Najib A. Mikati was born in 1955 in Tripoli, Lebanon. He received his BBA and MBA in 1980 from the American University of Beirut and then enrolled in various Executive Education Programs: at the Harvard Business School (OPM-90), the AVIRA Executive Program at INSEAD in Fontainebleau, France, in 1994, the J.F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 2004. He is the co-founder of Investcom LLC, a leading emerging market telecommunication company, now listed on the London Stock Exchange and on the Dubai International Financial Exchange.

Between 1998 and 2004, he held the position of the Ministry of Public Works and Transport. In 2000, he was elected Deputy for Tripoli, North Lebanon, in the Lebanese Parliament, until April 2005, when he became Lebanon’s Prime Minister. Premier Mikati has been hailed in Lebanon and the Arab world as a seminal thinker and politician, authoring papers and reports, bridging the private and public sectors, and holding key activities and affiliations. For many years, he was a member of the Board of Directors and Chairman of the Economic Committee of the Lebanese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as a member of the Executive Committee of the National US-Arab Chamber of Commerce. A philanthropist and an art lover, Premier Mikati lives in Beirut with his wife, May. They have three children.
