Alderman Speaks to Harris School Students on Policy Issues
On March 16, Chicago City Council Alderman Toni Preckwinkle will speak to students as part of a course on political feasibility taught by Ron Gibbs, a lecturer at the Harris School. She will speaking on a variety of issues to include the Chicago bid for the 2016 Olympics, affordable housing, living wage ordinances, charter schools, health care, criminal justice, and the impact of the economic stimulus package on Chicago.
An alumna of the University of Chicago, Alderman Preckwinkle represents the 4th Ward in Chicago, which includes part of the Hyde Park campus, and has been on the City Council since 1991. She has announced that she will be running for Cook County Board President in 2010. She has been a close associate and advisor to President Obama when he first decided to run for public office in 1995.
