Shor and Yin Reappointed Assistant Professors

Boris Shor and Wesley Yin have been reappointed as assistant professors at the Harris School.

Shor focuses on two primary research programs. The first is the empirical analysis of the policy consequences of enduring political institutions in the United States. The second area is the analysis of state legislative ideology in comparative context and the connection to cross-state policy differences. In other research, he is focusing on the causes and consequences of the blue-red state divide in the United States and recently co-authored the book, Red State, Blue State, Rich State, Poor State: Why Americans Vote the Way they Do (Princeton University Press, 2008). Finally, Shor is interested in leveraging advanced computer technology in addressing substantive political questions.

Yin has broad research interests in the areas of health economics, public finance, and development. His current work studies how interactions between the public and private sectors affect the performance of health insurance markets; how health affects labor productivity, earnings and wage disparities; and how information and competitive forces impact the efficiency of credit markets and the delivery of health care. He is a faculty research fellow at the National Bureau of Economic Research and a former Robert Wood Johnson Scholar in Health Policy at Harvard University.
