Faculty Projects

Take a look at some of the research projects that are currently underway in the Harris School. For more information on specific projects, visit our Faculty Web Pages and Centers.

Incarcerated Mothers Project

The rate of incarceration of women in the U.S. is rising dramatically. This project seeks to examine the long-term effects of maternal incarceration on the children of these women and the implications of these consequences for the justice system as a whole.

Chicago School Readiness Project

In 2003, Associate Professor C. Cybele Raver received a $3.3 million, five-year grant to support a Chicago-based collaborative research project on school readiness. The study is examining young children's emotional readiness for school and academic achievement as they make the transition from preschool to elementary school. Funded by the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, the Administration for Children and Families, the Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services, and the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation, this grant is part of a larger research initiative by the Departments of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Education to help prepare young children for school.
