Did you know?
HSIT has made several important changes in the past few months. Some
of you know about these, but the tech team wants to make sure that
the news is spread throughout the school. To help keep you informed, HSIT plans to post messages summarizing new services, existing services,
and changes in central services such as email. Items in our “Did
You Know” series are available for browsing on the Harris School
website .
Without any further ado, DID YOU KNOW…

double sided and staple your documents. more >>
3. You can connect to your desktop remotely (from a home computer or
laptop) in order to work just as if you are sitting in your office?
Using a terminal services application and VPN software client available for Microsoft Windows 2000, Windows
XP and Mac OS X 10.2, it is possible to use applications and files located
on your office computer from a laptop or home computer. If you are interested
in exploring this possibility email us at
hsit@listhost.uchicago.edu.
4. You can get rid of e-mail tagged as SPAM before it arrives in your
inbox? One of the new features of webmail is that it now provides
a server side filter. This means that it will filter messages sent to you
BEFORE you see them in your mailbox. more>>
5. You can reserve a wireless lavalier microphone for lectures or presentations
in the auditorium? If you are tired of having to shout to make yourself
heard in the Auditorium, please contact HSIT to reserve a wireless microphone.
6. You can print to the printers in the cluster wirelessly from your laptop? Check out
the instructions for wireless printing.
