Kathleen Geier

B.A., Hunter College of the City University of New York (English and Women's Studies)
M.P.A., Columbia University School of International and Public Affairs

Research Interests

My main research interest is the effect of norms and institutions on labor market inequality in the U.S. I am also interested in the economics of gender, especially the determinants of women's pay and labor force participation and the impact of neoliberal economic policies on women and families. My tentative dissertation topic is the effect of Wal-Mart on wage inequality and the economic well-being of low-income Americans. Currently, I am a data manager/analyst for a study that looks at the impact of employer scheduling practices on the family life and job performance of low-wage workers.
