Directions to the Harris School

The University of Chicago campus is located in Hyde Park, a neighborhood seven miles south of the downtown Chicago business district (the Loop), and can be reached easily by the expressway system and by public transportation. The Harris School, 1155 E. 60th Street, is located at the corner of 60th Street and Woodlawn Avenue. Driving directions are listed below.

Public Transportation
Transportation from the Loop is available by rail on the Metra Electric Railroad (from the Randolph Street Station on Michigan Avenue to stops at 55th-56th-57th and at 59th streets). You may also reach the university by bus on the Chicago Transit Authority's #6 Jeffery Express, which can be boarded in the Loop on State Street. Transportation between Hyde Park and O'Hare and Midway airports is available through regularly scheduled routes of the C. W. Limousine Service. Call 773.493.2700 for schedules and fares. Private limousine service can also be arranged through University Transportation Limousine and Livery Service at 773.643.4003, and through Quadrangle Transportation at 773.241.7115.

Driving Directions

From Downtown Chicago: Take Lake Shore Drive south to the 53rd Street exit. Follow 53rd Street to Woodlawn Avenue. Turn left onto Woodlawn Avenue and follow to 60th Street.
From O’Hare Airport: Exit the airport at I-90/Kennedy Expressway/Chicago Loop. Head south past the downtown area until you see signs for Lake Shore Drive south. Take Lake Shore Drive south to the 53rd Street exit. Follow 53rd Street to Woodlawn Avenue. Turn left onto Woodlawn Avenue and follow to 60th Street.
From Midway Airport: Exit the airport by turning left onto Cicero. Turn right at 55th Street and proceed east on 55th Street, as it curves, into Washington Park. The road will fork; stay to the right and follow the road to the Midway Plaisance (59th -60th Streets). Continue east on 59th Street to Woodlawn Avenue. Turn right and follow to 60th Street.
From the north: Take I-94 south toward Chicago. Pass the downtown area and look for signs for Lake Shore Drive south. Take Lake Shore Drive south to the 53rd Street exit. Follow 53rd Street to Woodlawn Avenue. Turn left onto Woodlawn Avenue and follow to 60th Street.
From the south: Take I-94, the Dan Ryan Expressway, north to Garfield Boulevard (55th Street). Proceed east on 55th Street, as it curves, into Washington Park. The road will fork; stay to the right and follow the road to the Midway Plaisance (59th -60th Streets). Continue east on 59th Street to Woodlawn Avenue. Turn right and follow to 60th Street.
