Center for Human Potential and Public Policy
Program Areas
Our program areas have been developed to reflect and bring together the ongoing work of our faculty affiliates and post-doctoral trainees, as well as to stimulate and support new research and collaboration on important, but less-studied topics.
Our three program areas are 1) Developmental Transitions in a Changing World; 2) Poverty, Inequality, and the Human Condition; 3) Science, Technology & Society
Developmental Transitions in a Changing World
The Center is interested in social policies and programs that support human development at key junctures in the lifespan. This program area focuses on investments in early learning and education, the transition to adulthood for vulnerable youth, and the health and financial well-being of older workers and retirees.
Poverty, Inequality, and the Human Condition
The Center and its affiliates have a long-standing interest in the consequences of poverty and inequality. This program area focuses on racial inequality; the achievement, health, and well-being of immigrants; and the impacts of poverty and inequality on achievement, health, and well-being among different populations in America.
Science, Technology, and Society
The Center has a particular interest in understanding how scientific progress shapes the human condition, especially in understanding the role of technology in promoting human potential. This program area focuses on technology and education as well as technology and health.
