Recent Awards & Recognition

The faculty commitment to research has garnered numerous awards, honors, and fellowships, including:

  • Eugene Garfield Economic Impact of Medical and Health Research Award from Research!America to Tomas J. Philipson
  • James Heckman awarded Ulysses Medal from University College Dublin
  • Patrick J. Fett Award for the best paper on the scientific study of Congress and the presidency awarded to William Howell
  • Bruce Meyer named W. Edmund Clark Distinguished Lecturer, Queens University
  • The Young Investigator Award from the National Association of Inpatient Physicians, to David Meltzer
  • Robert T. Michael named a National Associate by the National Academy of Sciences / National Research Council
  • The Award for Distinguished Economic Research from the Milken Institute to Tomas J. Philipson
  • The Robert J. Lapham Award from the Population Association of America to Robert T. Michael
  • A Young Scholars Award from the Foundation for Child Development to Ariel Kalil
  • three Kenneth J. Arrow Awards from the International Health Economics Association for best paper by Tomas Philipson (in 2000 and 2006) and by Willard Manning (in 2002)
  • the Karl W. Deutsch Award in International Relations and Peace Research, to Professor Duncan Snidal, presented annually by the International Studies Association to the scholar under the age of 40 who has made the most significant contribution to the study of international relations and peace research
  • Society for Medical Decision Making award for an outstanding paper by a young investigator, to David Meltzer
  • Award for Early Research Contributions, from the Society for Research in Child Development, to Ariel Kalil
  • the Eugene Garfield Award for most outstanding paper, to David Meltzer
  • Paper of the Year Award by the National Institute for Health Care Management, to David Meltzer
