Nathaniel Baum-Snow, Ph.D.

Nathaniel Baum-Snow is a visiting assistant professor in the Harris School.

Nathaniel Baum-Snow is visiting the Harris School during the 2008-2009 academic year. He is the Stephen Robert Assistant Professor of Economics at Brown University. He received an AB in economics from Harvard College in 1998 and a PhD in economics from the University of Chicago in 2005. Baum-Snow is an urban economist who has published research on topics including the effects of rail transit construction in urban areas and the extent to which highway construction caused urban decentralization. Baum-Snow has ongoing research projects investigating the effects of subsidized housing on surrounding neighborhoods and how school desegregation has impacted school choice and residential location patterns by race. In addition, Baum-Snow has a National Science Foundation grant to investigate the sources of the urban wage and productivity premiums.
