Student Organization Hosts Pakistan Panel
Eight Pakistani journalist gathered at the Harris School of Public Policy Studies to discuss U.S.-Pakistan relations on February 23.
The panel was hosted by the Harris School’s Committee on International Affairs and Public Policy, a student-led organization dedicated to studying international policy, marking its first event since partnering with the International Visitor’s Center of Chicago. Moderated by Dean’s International Council member Frank Schell, guests also included Nobel Prize-winning economist Roger Myerson and Navaid Abidi, board member for the Human Development Fund.
The dialogue touched on recent U.S. foreign policy toward Pakistan, and what the U.S. should do mitigate conflicts in the Middle East. The group also explored topics like domestic policy concerns and governing institutions in Pakistan, with many panelists agreeing that these issues have hindered prospects for democratic reform in the country.
