In Memoriam: Sarah Damaske (1981-2010)
Sarah Demaske, a Harris School student enrolled in the MPP degree program, passed away February 21 after a prolonged battle with cancer. She was 28.
Sarah was born on March 28, 1981, in Berrien Center, Michigan. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2003 before working in Lansing for State Senators Harry Gast and Michael Bishop. In 2007, Sarah enrolled at the Harris School with a policy focus in organizations, institutions, and management. When her cancer was diagnosed, Sarah was preparing for a summer internship at the White House Office of Management and Budget. She would have graduated in spring 2009.
Those who knew Sarah remember her as a young, vibrant, and strong woman. A memorial service was held on February 27 in St. Joseph. In lieu of flowers, Sarah and her family request that donations be made to the Therapeutic Equestrian Center (T.E.C.) or charity of your choice.
