Proposal Hearing Guidelines


Requirements:

Before the proposal hearing is scheduled the student must have completed the following:

  1. Qualifying examinations
  2. Qualifying paper

Scheduling:

Students are responsible for contacting their faculty committee and arranging a date and time for the proposal hearing. The date and time must also be cleared with the Director of the PhD Program.

Procedure:

Two weeks before the hearing, submit the following to Cynthia Cook-Conley:

  1. Proposal approval sheet, signed by at least three members of the thesis committee
  2. An abstract of 100 – 250 words (via email).
  3. One copy of the proposal (via email), in addition to those given to the thesis committee.
  4. If research involves human subjects, statement of Protection of the Rights of Human Subjects.

Please note that your Ph.D. dissertation should be written with the understanding that it will become a public document. At the very least, it will be available through Regenstein Library.
