Under the leadership of Katherine Baicker, Dean and the Emmett Dedmon Professor, Harris Public Policy has an ambitious agenda for the future as it seeks to redefine what it means to be a policy school for a new generation of leaders. The Dean's Office, with input from faculty and staff leadership, sets Harris's direction and strategic priorities.
Harris Public Policy's three advisory boards provide guidance on new and ongoing initiatives, as well as resource development. Members of both the Harris Council and the Alumni Council are accomplished professionals with substantial experience in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. Chaired by Prof. Kerwin Charles, the Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board comprises representatives from Harris's students, alumni, faculty, and staff who have exemplified leadership in their commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion at Harris and in the policy arena.
The Harris Council serves as the lead advisory group to the dean and school administrators and is comprised of accomplished professionals with substantial experience in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. The group provides Harris with services that range from advice and financial support to interacting with students and connecting the work of Harris Public Policy to the world beyond the walls of the University.
The Alumni Council fosters positive connections between fellow alumni, alumni and Harris Public Policy, and alumni and current Harris students. They provide resources to alumni in networking, job placement, professional development, and more.
The Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Board (DIAB) is charged with furthering Harris’s commitment to diversity and inclusion. Its members provide guidance and consultation to Harris administrative leadership on issues of diversity and inclusion and serve as an independent thought partner in shaping Harris’s long-term strategy and policies on diversity and inclusion.
